4.Japanese and Chinese Language and Literature

In this Discipline, we will study Japanese and Chinese cultural phenomena which have always been closely related to East Asian history. There have been various cultural assets produced in the long history of a thousand or more years in the two countries. Among others, written documents will be focused and analyzed from a linguistic and literary point of view. The features of Japanese and Chinese language and literature will be also fully compared in order to investigate their interaction and mutual influence and reconsider the two cultures as a whole from a broader perspective. Thus, we will attempt to foresee the future of the 21st century of our country and contribute to clarifying and establishing the identity of East Asian culture in the global context.
