With "Building University-Centered Local Cooperative Systems" as a stated goal in the "21st Century Hiroshima University Image Master Plan -The Realization of a Truly Individual Comprehensive University-", Social Contribution is ranked as the 3rd Pillar of HU after Education and Research.
It is the mission of the Community Cooperation Division to comprehensively promote HU social cooperation.

Community Cooperation Division is an organization set up to promote HU social cooperation based on a university-wide strategy (the "University Information Service Office", which was established in 2002 as a predecessor to this Center, was a pioneer undertaking in Japan).
In 2004, the "Social Cooperation Promotion Institute" was established, which promotes HU social cooperation together with the Collaborative Research Center and the Medical Social Cooperation Center. In 2010, three Centers joined together to "The Center for Collaborative Research & Communuty Cooperation. "Community Cooperation Center" transformed to "Community Cooperation Division".

~Building a New Partnership Between the Local Community and the University~

The university does not just have the fundamental function as a place of learning and research. It is where the lives and activities of students and staff in the region take place, its campus occupies a large place in the community, and universities and regions have developed into their own through the effects they have on one another.

The goal of our activities is to "build a new partnership between the local community and the university." To realize this goal, we're working to unite both university and local community and give new value to that relationship using the keywords "Open, Connect, Cooperation, Create".
