Admission Policy (the image of students we seek as ideal)
School of Dentistry aims to foster dental professionals who can contribute to people and society through dental science・dental medicine, after acquiring advanced academic knowledge, a scientific spirit of inquiry and a rich sense of humanity as dental practitioners
We therefore seek the following students.
(1) Students who possess a broad range of basic scholastic knowledge at high-school
(2) Students who demonstrate profound sensitivity / humanity, logical thinking, a spirit of cooperation / mutual support essential for dental clinicians in addition to the following two
・ Those showing a great interest in human body, especially oral and facial parts
・Those having capabilities of creative / flexible thoughts and communication skill along with a spirit of inquiry and a strong eagerness to learn
(3) Students who intend to become educators / researchers in dental science・dental medicine to be active internationally, and dental clinicians capable of taking the leadership in the local community
School of Oral Health Science aims to foster personnel who can contribute to people and society in the fields of dental medicine・medical care・oral health and welfare, after acquiring advanced academic knowledge, medical skills, a scientific spirit of inquiry and a rich sense of humanity as dental specialists. We therefore seek the following students.
(1) Students who possess a broad range of basic scholastic knowledge at high-school
(2) Students who are qualified with full of human love / morality / profound humanity necessary for medical professionals, and the ability to solve problems / flexible thinking
Furthermore, we seek students satisfying either of the followings.
・ Students who possess a strong sense of responsibility and a passion to be educators
・ Students who are highly motivated to take a major role as a member of team-work treatment as well as capabilities of communication, sociability, cooperation, and judgment
・ Students who have a strong desire to develop 「Oral Health Science」 as a new field while demonstrating a scientific spirit of inquiry, enthusiasm, creativity and patience
(3) Students who are interested in leading the field of oral health science to become highly-specialized and systematized while integrating knowledge and techniques on dentistry, medicine, public health, and welfare in the future
Or those who intend to become dental hygienists, dental technicians or Yogo teachers (school nurses) capable of taking an important part in the establishment of international educational research base for oral health science
Characteristics of Faculty of Dentistry
At School of Dentistry, students try to be dental professionals through「dental program」. They take general education subjects for their first year mainly at Higashihiroshima Campus. From the 2nd year, they learn specialized core subjects, and then they acquire necessary knowledge・skills to pass the National Examination for Dental Practitioners along with clinical trainings from the second half of the 5th year. Students take subjects differed by Course during the second half of the 3rd year – the first half of the 5th year.
At School of Oral Health Science, first year students mainly take general education subjects, while learning a part of specialized basic subjects. From 2nd year, students take specialized subjects, and then from the second half of the 3rd year, they exercise clinical practices according to actual clinical cases while conducting their graduation research.
