Coming to Japan I felt some initial difficulties adjusting myself in a new place with a different language, weather and culture. Within a short period of time, however, I have overcome my difficulties. As soon as I reached the Higashi Hiroshima train station, I was showered with a friendly welcome by the Hiroshima University group. A strong support and friendly attitude from my revered supervisor, teachers in Japanese Intensive Training Program and lab mates helped me much to start my life smoothly and positively. Gradually, I have grown accustomed to this new environment and enjoying my life here ever since.

I graduated from the Faculty of Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology of Bangladesh Agricultural University and currently I am doing my research in the Laboratory of Food and Resource Economics. Hiroshima University provides all the facilities and resources required for carrying out various studies and research including field works. I have easy access to scientific journals in the libraries as well as internet browsing for obtaining information as well as academic-related activities that helped me to facilitate my study and research. Graduate School of Biosphere Science extends financial support to cover travel and attendance costs at international conferences and by this time I had been to three of them. An inspiring support from my supervisor Professor Yamao, who is a man of caring personality, helps to build a successful academic and research life throughout my study period here. I am really grateful to him for guiding me through the new arena of modern scientific research.

Living and studying in one of the most historical cities in the world is really amazing. Friendly welcome to the various cultural events and festivals in Hiroshima city helps me to learn and understand better Japanese society. It is well-known that Japanese people are sincere, kind, polite, hardworking and devoted to their duties and responsibilities. Their exceptional personal characteristics encourage me to follow them as models in developing my own nation economically and technologically. Moreover, the Muslim people from different countries in the world perform our daily prayers in a special room provided by Hiroshima University. Every year we observe our holy Eid festival together and which brings us immense joy. We value the religious freedom and racial harmony in Japan and we never face any problems in performing our religious and cultural activities here.
On the other hand, easy and efficient transportation system made up of buses, taxis and trains allows us to travel smoothly and punctually within Japan as well as abroad. I have the chance to meet many people coming from all over the world to visit historical Hiroshima city and I share with them my experiences, culture, daily life and things that made me feel like having a second family here.
Finally, I would like to thank the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) and the Embassy of Japan in Dhaka for granting the scholarship and the Bangladesh Agricultural University for granting an authorized study leave. Their kind cooperation gave me the opportunity to pursue higher studies in this world renowned institution, Hiroshima University. I am also grateful to Ms. Himiko Koi, Ms. Ayako Asari and Mr. Koji Nakamura, staff members of the Student Support Office for their countless support, suggestions and cooperation.
Cordial thanks to all of my lab-mates particularly Japanese friends who always extended their help whenever necessary.
