Tutor & Conversation Partner
Tutor
At arrival all students will get a tutor assigned to them during their stay in Hiroshima. These are Japanese students who will help the HUSA student with settling in during the first weeks in Higashi-Hiroshima, and during the year assist students with various aspects of their student-life.

They help students completing procedures for alien registration, registry for class and other formalities necessary during the first weeks in Japan. Tutors are usually also quite willing to help students out obtaining goods for their dorm rooms and showing them around at campus.

They will also assist students with improving their Japanese language skills during the year.

Conversation Partner

The International Center offers a voluntary system of Conversation Partners, or Kaiwa Partners. These are Japanese students who want to learn a foreign language and who will, in return, help international students with their Japanese conversational skills. Students usually meet up once a week with their Conversation Partner and talk for an hour or two at a location of their choice. Students can join the system in the first weeks after arrival and are usually assigned a Conversation Partner by the end of the first month of their stay. Students are at any time free to switch to another Conversation Partner during the year. The Conversation Partner system is a useful way to get to know more about campus life and the life of Japanese students.
