 Events
 April, 1969  The Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences with the class capacity of 40 students was opened in the Faculty of Medicine.
 April, 1970   Departments of Medicinal Chemistry, Physiological Chemistry, and Pharmacognocy were set up in the Institute of  Pharmaceutical Sciences.
 April, 1971  Departments of Hygienic Chemistry and Pharmacochemistry were established in the Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, making a total of 5 departments.
 April, 1972  Departments of Pharmacology and Pharmaceutics were added in the Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, making a total of 7 departments.
 April, 1977
 The Japanese name of the Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences was  changed to reflect the reorganization into 5 departments: Department of Medicinal Chemistry, Department of Medicinal Chemistry of Natural Products,  Department of Analytical Chemistry, Department of Public Health Chemistry, and Department of Pharmacobiodynamics. The class capacity was 60 students.
 April, 1978  Department of Pharmaceutics and Therapeutics was set up in the Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, bringing the number of departments to 6.
 April, 1980  Experimental Station of Medicinal Plants was established.
 April, 2002  All departments of both School of Medicine and Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences in the Faculty of Medicine were closed following the establishment of Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. 8 subjects of School of Medicine and  5 subjects of Pharmaceutical Sciences were newly set up.
 April, 2004
 Hiroshima University was renamed Hiroshima University National University Corporation under the National University Corporation Law.
 April, 2006
 Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Faculty of Medicine was abolished and Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences was established: 2 Institutes, Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (6-year) with a total capacity of 38 students and Institute of Medicinal Sciences (4-year) with a total capacity of 22 students. Experimental Station of Medicinal Plants was shifted to Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences from Faculty of Medicine.
 April, 2010  Master’s Program at the Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences in the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences was  established with the capacity of 20 students.
