Characteristics
Goal of Institute of Medicinal Sciences (4-year academic program) is to develop human resources:
(1) Those who can cope ambitiously with new problems through creative thinking skills
(2) Those who acquire a wide range of knowledge with spirit of scientific inquiry and strong motivation to learn
(3) Those who work as professionals acting a leading role in the world, such as pharmaceutical researchers or technicians, developers of next generation medicine, providers of advanced medical information, and experts in environmental hygiene
(4) Those who acquire advanced knowledge and skills on pharmaceutical or medical sciences to lead next generation life sciences or medical cares
After the entrance to our Faculty, first-year students complete general education subjects at the Higashi-Hiroshima campus. From 2nd year, they move to the Kasumi campus, and learn the basics of various specialized subjects on pharmacy according to “Medicinal Sciences Program”. Through seminars and practices from 3rd year to 4th year, students are able to acquire foremost knowledge and techniques of specialized fields selected by themselves. After graduation, they will make a social contribution as researchers or technical experts at companies or public institutions. We also promote graduates to proceed to Master Course (2-year) and the following Doctor Course (3-year) at the Graduate School of Medical Sciences, Hiroshima University to develop their abilities.

Note: Graduates from Institute of Medicinal Sciences need to fulfill the following requirements:
(1) Continuing their studies at the Graduate School for more than 2 years and finishing Master or Doctor Programs
(2) Earning all the necessary credits to graduate Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (6-year course); additional credits which can not be taken at Institute of Medicinal Sciences
(3) Taking pharmaceutical clinical trainings during the period that they do not belong to the Graduate School
