Toshiyuki Sawa
Director, Center for Collaborative Research and Community Cooperation
Welcome to the website of the Center for Collaborative Research and Community Cooperation based at Hiroshima University, Japan.
Our primary mission can be summarized as follows:
1. Facilitate the transfer of research and technology seeds and intellectual property to industry
2. Promote and assist in the coordination of collaborative research between industry, academia and government agencies
3. Develop human resources through MOT and other educational programs
As a regional leader, Hiroshima University has expanded collaboration between industry, academia and government from a national to a global initiative with programs in the U.S., Europe and Asia. Collaborative research with the private sector has been established in Korea, Thailand, Indonesia and the U.S.
In June 2010, we held an expo in New York (New York Showcase), presenting the university's research seeds for potential private industry/business development. Two experienced on-site coordinators have been appointed in the U.S., one
coordinator has been appointed in Thailand and one in Europe. Their function is to continue to promote international collaborative research on behalf of the Center.
We have also enhanced global sharing of information by launching this English language website, including a research seeds database which provides international corporations and business groups with opportunities for consultation and collaborative research.
We will continue to seek opportunities to enhance our contribution to research and industry, for the benefit of the global community, despite the unpredictability of the current economic climate. We appreciate the on-going support and contributions of everyone associated with the Center.
Thank you.
