Cheating (Academic Dishonesty)

Students who are found to have committed acts of academic dishonesty in relation to their final examinations shall face the following consequences:

Consequences of Academic Dishonesty on Final Examinations

1. Students who are found guilty of cheating on their final examinations for courses taken during the term shall be subject to the following disciplinary action:

(1) Students caught cheating on examinations for core courses shall be given an F for all core courses taken during the term, excluding core seminars.

(2) Students caught cheating on examinations for specialized courses shall be given an F for all specialized courses. Core courses registered as specialized courses shall be treated as specialized courses.

2. Students who are found guilty of cheating on their final examinations shall be subject to disciplinary action based on the Hiroshima University Student Disciplinary Action Guidelines, as authorized by the University President on April 1, 2004.

3. Final examinations for graduate schools and major subjects shall be handled in compliance with items 1 and 2 of this procedure.

As students caught cheating shall receive an F not only for that specific examination and class, but also for other classes taken during the term, their graduation shall be postponed accordingly. Such students shall also be subject to further disciplinary action in order to discourage academic dishonesty in the future.
