Drinking Responsibly

Roughly 40% of Japanese are said to be unable to handle alcohol well. Here are some guidelines which will help you enjoy alcohol responsibly:

Please Note:
It is illegal for someone under the age of 20 to drink alcohol
Never chug alcohol (ikki-nomi) or allow others to do it
Do not encourage someone to drink who can't or doesn't want to
Drink at a slow pace while eating
Do not become overly intoxicated
Never drink and drive
Be aware of your volume and behavior while drinking and be considerate of others
When someone becomes overly intoxicated:
Let the person vomit in a toilet, etc, and provide them with plenty of (non-alcoholic) liquids
Do not leave them alone. Always have someone take them home
If the person falls unconscious or fails to respond to you, take them to the hospital or call an ambulance
