There have been reports of assaults, extortion, and other incidents in and around the University. The number of reported cases of purse snatchings has also increased. In order to promote safety and security, always be aware of the following:

Avoid secluded places where there are few people
|

Use well-lit, busy streets, even if it takes you out of your way
|

Run away if you are in danger
|
|
|
| |
When you are unable to escape, shout for help
|
|

Avoid walking alone at night
|
|
|
| |
Women in particular should be cautious
|
|
 |
Avoid placing valuables in your bicycle basket
|
|
|
| |
Purse-snatchers often target items in bicycle baskets
|
|
Should you become the victim of a crime:
|

|
|
 |
Immediately report the incident to the police (dial 110)
|
|
|
| |
Try to remember the license plate number (even the last digit is helpful) or the features of the suspect's vehicle or the physical characteristics of the suspect (face, body shape, etc)
|
|

Also report the incident to the Student Support Office of your faculty or graduate school
|
