No matter how careful you are, sometimes traffic accidents cannot be avoided. If you are involved in a traffic accident, how you handle things after the accident are very important.

The amount of compensation required after a traffic accident has increased in recent years. Extremely large settlements may also affect your family if you are responsible for the accident.

The penalties for causing traffic accidents are severe.

Drinking and driving is an especially serious crime. You should also be aware that penalties for speeding or other breaches of traffic safety laws can also be substantial.

If you are involved in an accident:

1. If anyone is injured, provide assistance as necessary and call an ambulance (dial 119).
2. Take measures to ensure safety by moving your car to a safer place, for example.
3. Report the accident to the police (dial 110).
4. Keep a record of information about the accident and the other person(s) involved.
5. Report the case to your tutor, the Student Support Office of your faculty, and the General Student Support Center.
