The Characteristics of Undergraduate Education

Hiroshima University has designated an admission policy that accords with the purposes and goals of education provided by each faculty. Based on this policy, we actively admit diverse students by means of 1) a general selection system (first-term/second-term), and 2) an AO (admission office) selection system, a method that places more emphasis on individual characteristics of each applicant. In its undergraduate education, Hiroshima University provides curricula designated to ensure consistency between liberal arts education and specialized education, thereby enabling students to obtain extensive knowledge on humanities in general as well as fundamental abilities in their individual fields of study. In addition to systems support each student in their studies and daily life, we have introduced our own proprietary educational system known as the Hiroshima University Program of Specified Education and Study (HiPROSPECTS®). We provide our foreign language education by dividing students into several classes based on their achievements so that each student can more effectively obtain advanced foreign-language communication skills.

TOEIC®-IP Introduction

The TOEIC® test is given four times a year to students in the first and second years. The test is designed to measure their English skills, with their test results then used as a criterion to divide them into classes based on their achievement levels. With TOEIC® scores recognized socially and internationally as a general meter of English skills, the TOEIC® test helps students check their current scores and motivated them to work harder to improve their English skills.

GP (Good Practice: Distinctive University Education Support Program)
