(3) Private Apartments
- Higashi-Hiroshima City: Most rooms include a kitchen, bath, and bathroom; rent ranges from 25,000yen to 50,000yen per month.

- Hiroshima City: Bare-bones rooms and rooms with baths, kitchens, and bathrooms available. Rent depends on the size of the
room, maintenance, etc (ranges from 30,000yen to 80,000yen per month).

In Japan, it is customary to pay key money, deposit money, broker's commission as well as a month of rent upfront when signing the lease. We advise you to bring at least 4 to 6 months rent when going to finalize the contract.

* Usually in Japan a guarantor is required when renting a private apartment. Hiroshima University has a system of issuing "Apartment Tenancy Guarantee Certificates" and becoming a guarantor for international students wishing to rent an apartment. Students wishing to obtain an "Apartment Tenancy Guarantee Certificates" are required to obtain "Comprehensive Reters' Insurance for Foreign Students" provided by the Japan Educational Exchanges and Sevices (JEES) or insurance equivalent to this before a certificate can be issued. A student who wants to know details is advised to inquire at the International Student Exchange Group (Student Plaza 3F).
