Hiroshima University-Taiwan Friendship Meeting

On Saturday, February 21, 2009, the Hiroshima University-Taiwan Friendship Meeting (Phoenix Taiwan Club) was established at the “Phoenix Taiwan Club Founding Assembly” at a hotel in Taipei, Taiwan, where approximately 60 HU-related staff, researchers, and international students were in attendance.

In addition establishing the Phoenix Taiwan Club, the Founding Assembly elected club officers and confirmed the club’s addition to the overseas branch of the Hiroshima University Alumni Association.

The president of the club, Professor Kingtu Chang of the National Kaohsiung First University of Science and Technology, gave an inaguratory speech stating “I would like to develop this club through the cooperation of everyone as a club of those who support HU, and through exchanges between all members of the club.” At the reunion party which followed, former international students met for the first time in many years since returning to Taiwan for a lively reunion which continued outside of the venue even after the event was over.
