Beginning with the Graduate School for International Development and Cooperation (IDEC) and the Center for the Study of International Cooperation in Education (CICE), Hiroshima University is actively participating in international cooperation projects and contributing to developing countries.

Cooperation with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)

In order to enhance the mutual cooperative relationship in respect to international cooperation for developing countries, the University and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) have entered into a cooperative agreement.

Cooperation with the (Former) Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC)

On October 1, 2009, the former Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) was acquired by JICA and is now a part of the New JICA. HU will continue its cooperation activities with the former JBIC as well as JICA.

Cooperation with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR)

In order to enhance the mutual cooperative relationship with respect to the operation of UNITAR's work, the University and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) entered into a comprehensive cooperative agreement on October 23 (Mon).
The comprehensive cooperative agreement between the University and UNITAR aims at using the University's expertise and human resources for UNITAR's development assistance to developing countries, thereby also vitalizing the University's education and research. This agreement is used as momentum toward the further enhancement of coordination with other organizations in terms of promoting international cooperation, fostering human resources, developing education and research, and for making further international contributions.
* UNITAR offers training for government officials, scholars, and representatives from civilian society in developing countries. Its headquarters is located in Geneva, Switzerland and the Hiroshima Office for Asia and the Pacific was established in 2003.

Researchers Dispatched by the Chinese Government

The Chinese Government dispatches researchers to universities and other organizations in Japan for periods of six months or one year. Researchers work under the supervision of instructors from the Japanese organizations. The University has been accepting researchers for many years.
