Graduate School: The Graduate School for International Cooperation and Development (IDEC)
Target Students: Master's students enrolled at IDEC (Japanese nationals in the Division of Educational Development and Cultural and Regional Studies)
Program Period: Generally 2 years beginning in January (equivalent to 3rd Brigade of Cooperation Volunteers)
Destination: The Republic of Zambia
Program Outline: Students will be sent to Zambia for 2 years as science and mathematics teachers in the Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers (JOCV) in Zambia. They shall receive guidance from their advisors in IDEC during their time abroad. Students shall prepare a Master's thesis based on their activities while improving themselves and their own abilities through practical experience and research in the field of developmental cooperation.

Program Outline: The Explorers of International Cooperation Studies to Cross Borders Program, which focuses on internships abroad, is a unique graduate education program even in Japan. It aims to educate students in the "design ability" necessary when involved in research in the field of international cooperation studies with universities, international cooperation organizations, private industries, and more.

Graduate School: The Graduate School for International Cooperation and Development (IDEC)
Target Students: IDEC students; all HU graduate students
Program Period: After August (each year) for 1-6 months
Destinations: Bangladesh, Indonesia, Vietnam, the Philippines, China, Taiwan, England, etc
Program Outline: This is a practical education program which conducts training (lectures, PBL, English language) pre-internship and research post-internship (practicum, thesis) which any graduate student at HU can participate in. The program aims to produce researchers able to adapt to various issues which lie outside of their area of study, as well as new issues which present themselves. It also aims to educate leaders in the frontline of international cooperation and international aid, as well as cultivate international students and trainees from around the world to be highly specialized leaders. The internship is divided into the following 3 categories:
1. Internships Abroad (Japanese students and international students are sent to developing countries)
2. Domestic Internships (International students are sent to Japanese businesses/organizations in Japan)
3. Third Country Internships (Gather trainees from developing countries in another third world country and hold training sessions based on Japanese technical experience and knowledge)

Graduate School: The Graduate School of Engineering
Target Students: Students enrolled in the Master's course at the Graduate School of Engineering or Graduate School for International Development and Cooperation (IDEC)
Program Period: 1 month
Destination: Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, China, Singapore
Program Outline: This program, as a trial industry-university cooperative education program, offers students the opportunity to grow as global technicians with the ability to succeed across borders abroad (especially in Asian development and production sites). The goal of the program is to cultivate technicians with ethical and international viewpoints, especially towards Asian countries, who will become the bearers of the 21st Century and the next generation of technicians. Through this program approximately 10 graduate students with interests in the issues in Asian countries or the regional transfer of technology are sent to Japanese industry factories or administrative offices in Asia.
