Important Notice regarding the Great East Japan Earthquake

Message of Sympathy

 Massive damage has been caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake, which occurred in the afternoon on March 11th, 2011. I extend my deepest condolence and heartfelt sympathy to all those affected by the disaster.

 I pray for the safety and good health of those who have been afflicted and that they can quickly return to their peaceful lives.

 Hiroshima University established the Risk Management and Disaster Countermeasures HQs on March 14th, and we will make all possible efforts to aid the people affected by this earthquake.

To whom it may Concern (Overseas)

Massive damage has been caused by the Tohoku - Pacific Ocean Earthquake, which occurred in the afternoon of March 11th, 2011. There are no reports of any damage to education and research facilities in Hiroshima University and no need for concern about exposure to radiation caused by the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant Accident. We would like to express our sincere thanks to all of our colleagues and friends in universities abroad who have expressed their concern and thoughtfulness. Hiroshima University has started assistance for the devastated areas.

The 2010 Graduation Ceremony on March 23, 2011 and the 2011 Entrance Ceremony on April 3 will be held  as scheduled.

Actions Regarding the Tokyo Electric Power Company Fukushima Nuclear Daiichi Power Station Incident 

Hiroshima University set up the Radiation Emergency Medicine Committee in response to the Declaration of Nuclear Emergency that resulted from the Tohoku-Pacific Ocean Earthquake on March 12th, 2011. With this commission appointed as a Local Tertiary Radiation Emergency Medical Institution for the Western Regions of Japan, Hiroshima University takes sufficient supporting actions in case of treatment of patients for radiation exposure.
