The COE
The 21st Century Center of Excellence (COE) Program

The goal of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's 21st Century Center of Excellence Program is the following:

"Our aim is to create strong universities which have the power to compete internationally. To this end, we will strongly support universities in building research and education bases in Japan which meet the highest international standards in every academic field, and in cultivating creative human resources who will both raise the bar in research and lead the world."

Currently at HU, we are actively developing research activities on our 3 adopted COE topics.
