The 2nd General Assembly of the “Africa-Asia University Dialogue for Educational Development” Network
The Network of “Africa-Asia University Dialogue for Educational Development” (A-A Dialogue), which is an international inter-universities collaborative Network, consisting of 16 universities in 12 African countries and 12 universities in 6 Asian countries, conducts education and research activities for educational development in collaboration with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), United Nations University (UNU), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). The Center for the Study of International Cooperation in Education (CICE) at Hiroshima University functions as the secretariat of the Network. In May 2010, the Network marked the official launch of a UNITWIN Africa-Asia Cooperation Programme on University Dialogue for Educational Development. UNITWIN is the abbreviation for the university twining and networking scheme and is organized by UNESCO in aiming at building the capacities of higher education and research institutions. The President of Hiroshima University, on behalf of all member universities of the Network, has signed an agreement with UNESCO and UNU for the establishment of the UNITWIN Africa-Asia Cooperation Programme.
