Student Volunteer Group TSUNAGARITAI visits the Great East Japan Earthquake Disaster Area a 4th time for Reconstruction Assistance

The Hiroshima University Disaster Area Reconstruction Assistance Student Volunteer Group TSUNAGARITAI, a part of “OPERATION TSUNAGARI”, visited the East Japan devastation site for the 4th time in order to support reconstruction.

“OPERATION TSUNAGARI” was formed by student volunteers immediately after the Great East Japan Earthquake. Aside from charity events in Hiroshima Prefecture, the students also did volunteer work at the disaster area in September and December of last year and in February 2012.

Similar to the 3rd visit, the volunteer group held a symposium together with local students. They spoke about its concrete activities, the importance of moral support, and continued to build a base of activities managed by the students living in the affected areas. TSUNAGARITAI also took part in the March 11 memorial ceremony.

From the start, Hiroshima University has financed “OPERATION TSUNAGARI”’s volunteer activities at the disaster sites through the Hiroshima University Fund. Hiroshima University will continue to support students’ desires to “help the devastated areas and expand the circle of volunteers.”

・Participate in the March 11 gathering for citizens and volunteer workers (at Tohoku University Katahira Campus) and the memorial ceremony
・Hold a symposium on March 15
