On Monday, March 6, Hiroshima University, in cooperation with NTT WestJapan's Hiroshima branch store, began its public wireless LAN service at the Higashi-Hiroshima campus dining halls and university meeting hall. This service will make it easier to offer direct Internet services to school visitors as well as to participants in academic meetings and performances. This service is being offered to the school by NTT WestJapan's Flets Support. The buildings currently covered by wireless LAN are the West Dining Halls (1 and 2), the North Dining Halls (1 and 2) and the University Meeting Hall (Daigaku Kaikan). The university also plans to begin wireless service in the Administration building, the Alumni Hall (Gakushi Kaikan), and Satake Memorial Hall in early April.
