From August 5 to 27, the First Annual Hiroshima University Summer Chinese Language Training was held for three weeks at Capital Normal University in Beijing, China. The training, organized by our university's Beijing Research Center and targeted students at our university, is a foreign language training program for learning Chinese during the three weeks of summer vacation.



The 16 participants (15 students and 1 university staff member) in the first annual training program were organized into beginner-level and intermediate-level classes taught by professors at Capital Normal University. In order to get a feel for Chinese history and culture, participants not only took courses in Chinese language, but also took field trips to principal places of interest in Beijing, participated in a Chinese culture lecture, and visited with a Chinese family. Participants said that they were able to have a full and rich experience with this program, and the university plans to hold it again next year.



* Due to the Summer Olympics being held in Beijing next year, the program may or may not be held in the summertime.
