Announcing the Sixth COE International Symposium "Social Capacity Development for Environmental Management and International Cooperation"



The Hiroshima University Graduate School for International Development and Cooperation's (IDEC) 21st Century Center of Excellence (COE) Program, "Social Capacity Development for Environmental Management and International Cooperation" will hold the Sixth COE International Symposium.



~Purpose and Aim of the Symposium~



Since the adoption of the IDEC's 21st Century Center of Excellence (COE) Program, "Social Capacity Development for Environmental Management and International Cooperation" in 2003, the program has conducted research, education, and social contribution in social capacity development for environmental management in developing countries for the past 5 years.



As the program has reached its final year, we are holding an international symposium to present the results of our activities thus far to a wide range of persons involved both domestically and abroad.



The symposium will also hold discussions about the direction of independent Center development post-grant project completion, including support for developing countries engaged in global-scale environmental issues, such as the development of a post-Kyoto Protocol framework.



Date and Time: Tuesday, November 27, 2007 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. (reception opens at 1 p.m.)
