【Recent highlights】
We recently found that ER stress may be involved in pathophysiology of leptin resistance in obesity (Mol Pharmacol. 2008,74:1610-9.).  We also found that flurbiprofen may be able to ameliorate leptin resistance through attenuating ER stress (EMBO Mol. Med. 2014, 6:335-46).

Profiles of Faculty and Research Scholars

We are focusing on human resources development.  Through seminar and meeting, we promote education and learning.  We educate researchers as well as pharmacists.  We also welcome foreign students and actively accept foreign students.

We are trying to understand mechanisms of diseases by majorly focusing on elucidating the mechanisms of stress responses. We are also interested in finding out novel therapeutic approach through ameliorating the stress.  One of the major topics of our laboratory is to understand the mechanisms of endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress, which is involved in neurodegenerative disease, diabetes, and obesity.
