Integrated Ecoscience Program

- Toward environmentally sustainable and effective use of resources -

The essence of human activities comprises production and consumption using “gifts from the ocean and land.” The Integrated Ecoscience Program studies the roles of the environment and the challenges facing it in extensive biospheres ranging from terrestrial to aquatic, from the viewpoint of its relations with humans’ food producing activities. The program helps students deepen understanding, from broad perspectives of natural and social sciences, about environmentally sustainable food production and the recycling and effective use of resources. The program also develops practical skills that enable students to contribute to the maintenance and improvement of the two functions of the biosphere, namely the function to produce food and organisms and the function to conserve the environment.
