The 4th retreat was held.

The Phoenix Leader Education Program held the 4th retreat at the Aki Grand Hotel, Hatsukaichi city, Hiroshima, on January 9 to 10, 2015. Forty-five people including the program students, teaching staff and the guest lecturer attended.

Dr. Okamoto Tetsuji, Program Director, made the opening address. Mr. Hiroshi Mashiko, Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), gave a lecture entitled “R & D for future Nuclear Energy.” It was a very good learning opportunity not only for the program students who are trying to become global leaders in radiation disaster recovery but also for teaching staff.

The program students made their presentations as a rehearsal for the coming international symposium.

On the second day, the students continued their presentations. The improvement of language skill was observed. It was a good opportunity for them to enhance their presentation skills as global leaders making presentations on the theme of “The relationship between leadership and scholarship and their roles with in the Phoenix Leader Education Program.”

Two program members, Dr. Tsuchida Takashi and Dr. Takahashi Shuji, made presentations on their research. The retreat ended and were followed by the 3rd students and faculty opinion exchange meeting.
