Program Supported by RIRBM Wins Bronze Award at New York Festivals 2026

 A program supported by the Research Institute for Radiation Biology and Medicine (RIRBM) has received the Bronze Award in the History & Society category at the international media competition, the New York Festivals 2026.

 The New York Festivals, established in 1957, is a prestigious international media competition that honors outstanding works and creators across a wide range of media, including television, film, radio, advertising, and marketing campaigns.

 The award-winning program, NHK WORLD-JAPAN “Hiroshima Ground Zero: Eyewitness Accounts of 78 A-Bomb Survivors” was produced as part of the “80 Years since the Atomic Bombing” project. Drawing on testimonies from survivors who were within 500 meters of the hypocenter and on research data accumulated over many years, the program depicts the reality of the atomic bombing from multiple perspectives.

 Dr. KAMADA Nanao, Professor Emeritus appeared in the program and contributed his expertise based on long-standing research on short-distance atomic bomb survivors.

 The award-winning program is available on the NHK WORLD-JAPAN website. The Japanese version can also be viewed via NHK On Demand.
