Hiroshima University’s proposal, “Formation of a World-Wide Graduate Education Hub that Practices “Science for Sustainable Development” (in collaboration with Shimane University, Okayama University, Yamaguchi University, Tokushima University, Kagawa University, Ehime University, and Kochi University), has been selected for the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT)’s FY2025 Future-Leading and Advanced Graduate-schools (FLAGs) program.
Hiroshima University is the only institution in western Japan to be selected for this program. The initiative represents an important step toward putting the University’s guiding philosophy, “Science for Sustainable Development,” into practice by placing it at the core of graduate education.
To promote the activities of this program, Hiroshima University has launched a dedicated website. The site will provide information on the program’s initiatives, events, and related activities.
Moving forward, Hiroshima University will further enhance its graduate education system through comprehensive management reform, the establishment of a global hub connecting the world, and industry-academia collaborative education with expanded career pathways. Through these efforts, the University aims to enhance the quality of doctoral education and increase the number of doctoral graduates. By nurturing doctoral graduates who can serve as innovation leaders and contribute across diverse sectors, Hiroshima University seeks to establish a world-wide graduate education hub that embodies and advances the principles of Science for Sustainable Development.
