Special Language-Learning Symposium at Hiroshima University This Friday

There will be a special language-learning symposium at Hiroshima University this Friday (March 7), dealing with “Information and Communication Technologies.” The presentations will show how teachers can match CALL capabilities with sound pedagogical practices in the field of foreign language teaching and learning.

The presentations will mostly be given in Japanese. But they are free of charge. Advanced registration is encouraged but not required.

In the afternoon, first, Prof. Kazumichi Enokida of Hiroshima University will explain how materials can be designed by teachers to match various learning situations. Next, Prof. Kenichi Kamiya of Osaka Institute of Technology will show how special software can improve the quality of foreign language education. Finally, Prof. Yoichi Watari of Shizuoka University will show how technology can be used to promote effective cooperative learning. For details on these talks, see:

In the morning there will also be short presentations on various topics, such as TOEIC, peer feedback, and using technology in English conversation classes. For details, see:
