Born in 1937 in Kamakura, the University of Tokyo graduate, became a Professor and later Professor Emeritus of the University of Tokyo. His insights from observing insects inform his exploration of issues related to bodily awareness and societal shifts. Awarded the Suntory Prize in 1988. Notable works include “Brain Only Theory,” “What A Fool Believes,” and “Wall of Self.”
Overview
Our daily lives are deeply connected to the health of people around the world. In these interconnected relationships, human health cannot exist without the health of the planet we live on. We invite Dr. Takeshi Yoro, an anatomist and insect researcher to give a lecture on “Human Health and Biodiversity.” Together with researchers from transdisciplinary fields, we will think about “Community Practice for Planetary Health: Richness in Nature and Our Daily Life.”
