From May 15 to 17, 2026, the 38th International Conference of CANELA, an academic association that connects research in Hispanic Studies and Japanese Studies, will be held at our university. CANELA is one of the largest conferences in this field in Japan. For the 2026 edition, we expect between 80 and 90 presentations. Researchers will come from about 15 different countries, with approximately 65% joining us from outside Japan. There will also be a dedicated section on teaching and research in Spanish as a Foreign Language, with around 20 presentations on this topic.
