What did you achieve at AdSM?

My notable achievement at AdSM is that my research has been published in several international journals. In addition, I was honored the Best Poster Presentation award at the Annual Meeting of the Society for Actinomycetes Japan in 2015. Apart from the scientific subject, I believe I learned more about Japanese language and the culture by interacting with people in my lab and my department.

Was there anything that surprised you in Japan?

Coming to a foreign country, there are always new things that astonish you. My biggest surprise was most of the Japanese could be fixated on their mobile phone while riding bicycle. This is very dangerous and apparently prohibited by law, but I never see any accident occurred because of this action.

How was your life in Higashi-Hiroshima city?

I enjoyed my life in Higashi-Hiroshima very much. Saijo is a safe and a peaceful small town. I personally love the wide pedestrian streets that are covered with trees. Nearby the university, where I spend most of my time, we can find couple of supermarkets, several convenience stores, and a lot of restaurants. These make living in Saijo become even easier.

What do you do now and where?

After my graduation, I have been a postdoctoral researcher in Cell Biochemistry laboratory in AdSM.

Please write a message for future international students.

Studying abroad can be overwhelming, especially with the language and culture barrier. But in Hiroshima University, one of the well-known university in Japan, there are more classes to be held in English and cultural exchange programs, which also encouraging Japanese students to communicate with foreigners. Moreover, AdSM has the best support for international students and a high expectancy on research quality. If you would like to acquire knowledge, skill, and experience in basic through applied sciences, AdSM can be one of your best choices.
