In January, 2016, Hiroshima University (HU) Graduate School of Bimedical & Health Sciences and Medical University, Sofia (MUS), Bulgaria have had Inter-Institutional Agreement concerning ERASMUS PLUS PROGRAM as one of supplemental agreements of the university-level agreement. And on February 11, 2016, an official meeting was held between HU delegation (Prof. WATARU YASUI, Dean, Graduate School of Biomedical & Health Sciences, Hiroshima University and Prof. NORIO SAKAI, Associate Dean of Graduate School of Biomedical & Health Sciences) and staff of Medical University, Sofia (Prof. RADOMIR LYUBOMIROV UGRINOV, Deputy rector of International Affairs, Ms. SAVENA BORISOVA, Erasmus coordinator and other staff) at MUS headquarter office to discuss mainly about future exchanges based on the Inter-Institutional Agreement.



MUS is a national and top medical university in Bulgaria. It was formerly founded as Medical Academy Sofia in 1950 and became MUS in 1995. HU Faculty of Medicine and Medical Academy Sofia concluded a faculty-level agreement in 1982. And HU and MUS concluded a university-level agreement in 2012. As exchanges based on these agreements, some HU staff has visited MUS or Medical Academy Sofia few times. And HU has accepted some students from MUS or Medical Academy Sofia by now.



At the meeting, participants basically agreed upon enhancing future collaborative activities such as student and staff mobility and joint research / education based on ERASMUS PLUS PROGRAM for next 5 years (2016-2021).



ERASMUS PLUS PROGRAM is the new European Union educational program which provides opportunities for over 4 million European students to study, train at educational institutes including some specific non-European country’s ones (e. g. Japan).
