From 13th to 22nd July 2023, twenty dental students from our sister school, Airlangga University, Indonesia, stayed the School of Dentistry, Hiroshima University. They were involved in a variety of activities, attending classes on dental medicine, visiting dental research laboratories, observing the university hospital, and interacting with a lot of students at Hiroshima University.

Airlangga University is an active member of the World University Association for Community Development (WUACD), collaborating with more than thirty universities around the world, with a mission to work together to solve problems faced by diverse communities. The student dispatch was a part of their activities in line with this mission, and therefore the students were required to interact with various communities both on and off campus, and to experience community development endeavor. 

To achieve this, the twenty dental students came to Japan as a mixed team with seventeen students from the Faculty of Pharmacy to gain experiences working together across the boundaries of their faculties. In addition, they visited Hiroshima University High School, Notre Dame Seishin Junior & Senior High School, Hiroshima City International House, and student circles for Kendo, Japanese archery, and soft tennis, sharing their experiences and ideas with junior/senior high school and college students and foreign residents in Hiroshima. 

Twenty students from Airlangga University School of Dentistry had various activities over the 10 days with great success and finally received a certificate of completion from Dean Kotaro Tanimoto.
