The UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) consist of 17 interdependent goals that are expected to be achieved by 2030. We at the Graduate School of Integrated Sciences for Life and School of Applied Biological Science have conducted comprehensive research and education which are directly involved in at least half of the goals (No Poverty, Zero Hunger, Good Health and Well-being, Clean Water, Responsible Consumption and Production, Climate Action, Life Below Water, Life of Land).

In this symposium, through a total of 6 sessions covering environment ~ biological diversity ~ bio-resource production ~ food sciences, researchers from universities in Asia and Africa will deliver their research outcomes or country reports which will then be followed by relevant research poster presentations by participating Summer School students and students of Hiroshima University.

At the end, we are going to discuss how we could elaborate comprehensive solutions or breakthroughs to help achieve the UN’s SDGs, to pursue a sustainable and peaceful world through our researches.

◆ This symposium is counted for students as a Science Seminar [Kyodo Seminar]
