"Development of dry ammonia-methane two-stage fermentation process for energy recovery from wastes"

Naomichi NISHIO

Professor(Special Appointment),

Graduate School of Advanced Sciences of Matter

The dry ammonia-methane two-stage fermentation process (Am-Met process) is useful for the anaerobic treatment of nitrogen-rich wastes such as waste excess sludge, chicken feces, and food waste without the dilution of the ammonia produced by water or carbon-rich wastes.

The produced methane is useful as energy and the produced ammonia is also expected now as energy because of easy convertibility for hydrogen,

and easy storage and transportation as liquid ammonia.

“An inspection tour for "efforts toward energy autonomy in Europe", and subsequent my efforts”

Takaharu SATO

Associate professor,

Integrated Arts and sciences

I had the opportunity to visit the area of German-speaking Europe doing vigorous activities towards energy independence in the cost of a project of GSIAS.

I introduced initiatives such as bicycle, biomass, hydro, wind, power control,

and environmental education in those regions. In addition, I introduced initiatives in Higashihiroshima that began in the wake of this visit.
