The 1st Phoenix Leader Education Program seminar 2015 was held.

In the 1st Phoenix Leader Education Program (PLEP) seminar 2015, Dr. Tomoyoshi Oikawa, Assistant Director of Minamisoma municipal general hospital, gave a lecture on Evacuation in the wide-scale earthquake disaster and its problems. The PELP seminars are held regularly with the purpose of disseminating information about the activities of our program by providing open classes and lectures to Hiroshima University students, faculty and staff.

More than 30 people, including both undergraduate and PLEP graduate students, attended the seminar and contributed to a lively learning environment.

In his lecture, Dr. Oikawa talked about the damage caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake and the subsequent tsunami. He also mentioned the response to them under extremely challenging conditions particularly after the occurrence of the radiation accident. Lastly he discussed the importance of acting based on sound scientific grounds especially when faced with difficult situations. It was a very useful seminar for all participants.
