Subjects and Credits Approved by the Graduate School

Academic Writing I (master's course) or Academic Writing II (doctoral course)

  • Procedures
  1. Students and supervisors shall plan for the acquisition of matters related to the submission of academic papers and presentations at international conferences in English.
  2. The supervisor shall provide guidance to the students in the laboratory.
  3. The supervisor submit Academic Writing Report (FORM_AW1) to the Dean of the Graduate School (the Support Office) after the guidance described in 2. above.
  4. A credit will be granted based on the report from your supervisor regarding the implementation of the class [the Support Office will register the academic record and the credit].

Internship (master's course) or Advanced Internship (doctoral course)

  • Procedure
  1. Students must consult with their supervisor before starting their fieldwork. The fieldwork should be carried out based on the plan discussed with the supervisor.
  2. Students are expected to spend a minimum of 60 hours for their internship. However, the internship should not interfere with other important activities, such as attendance at regular courses.
  3. Upon the completion of an internship, students should submit the following documents to their supervisor:  
    (FORM_IN1) Internship Report written by the student, whose minimum length is 4 pages in A4 format.
    (FORM_IN2) Certificate of Acceptance and Completion of Internship, which should be written by the host organization.
    (FORM_IN3) Application for Recognition of Credits. 
    The final deadline for the submission is the end of the following semester.
  4. Supervisor will grade based on the student report, completion certificate issued by the organization/institution, and observation/assessment of internship.
  5. A credit will be granted based on the report from your supervisor regarding the implementation of the internship [the Support Office will register the academic record and the credit].
     

Fieldwork (master's course) or Advanced Fieldwork (doctoral course)

  • Procedure
  1. Students must consult with their supervisor before starting their fieldwork. The fieldwork should be carried out based on the plan discussed with the supervisor.
  2. Students are expected to spend a minimum of 2 weeks for their fieldwork. However, the fieldwork should not interfere with other important activities, such as attendance at regular courses.
  3. Upon the completion of the fieldwork, students should submit the following documents to their supervisor:
    (FORM_FW1)  Fieldwork Report written by the student, whose minimum length is four pages in A4 format
    (FORM_FW2) Application for Recognition of Credits.  
    The final deadline of the submission is the end of the following semester.
  4. Supervisor will grade based on the student report including the student achievement.
  5. A credit will be granted based on the report from your supervisor regarding the implementation of the fieldwork [the Support Office will register the academic record and the credit].

Overseas Academic Activities for Smart Society (master's course)  and Academic Research Overseas for Smart Society  (doctoral course)

  • Procedure
  1. Under the guidance of the primary supervisor, the student shall prepare an implementation plan and shall engage in international conference presentations, presentations in foreign languages, academic training, and collaborative research. However, please complete it without interrupting your regular classes.
  2. After completing your activity by the end of the next semester, submit the following documents to your primary supervisor:
    (FORM_OA1)  Report on Overseas Academic Activities for Smart Society/ Academic Research Overseas for Smart Society
    (FORM_OA2) Application for Recognition of Credits 
    Supporting materials such as conference abstracts, when necessary.
  3. Your performance will be evaluated based on the documents you submit through your primary supervisor and the level of your accomplishment in terms of the purposes of your academic activities and research, and reported to the Dean of the Graduate School (the Support Office).
  4. A credit will be granted by the Dean of the Graduate School based on the report from your supervisor. The Support Office will register the academic record and the credit.

Science Seminar for Smart Society A (master's course) and Science Seminar for Smart Society B (doctoral course)

  • Procedure
  1. Under the guidance of the primary supervisor, the student shall attend fifteen advanced seminars in the field of Smart Society Practical Science. Joint seminars held by other graduate schools and doctoral dissertation public hearings shall also be included. Such activities shall be conducted to the extent that they do not interfere with regular coursework or other official academic obligations.
  2. After attending the fifteen seminars, the student shall submit the following documents to the primary supervisor and obtain confirmation by signature before the end of the next semester:
    (FORM_SS1)  Application for Recognition of Credit for Science Seminar for Smart Society A・B
    (FORM_SS2) Participation Certificate
    Supporting materials such as conference abstracts, when necessary.
  3. Please submit the Participation Certificate and the Application for Recognition of Credit for Science Seminar for Smart Society A・B to the Support Office. Please note that the period for accepting applications is from the time of enrollment until completion of the program.
  4. A credit will be granted by the Dean of the Graduate School based on the report from your supervisor. The Support Office will register the credit.
