Procedures to claim a tax deduction

・We will issue a “donation receipt” for those who need it after confirming the payment. Please understand that it will take us about 3 weeks to send it to you.

・“Donation receipt” issued by Hiroshima University is necessary for claiming tax benefits. Therefore, please keep it until you do your next tax return.

・Individual contributors to the Student Support Fund who claim the tax credit are required to submit ”donation receipt” and ”certificate of tax credit (copy)”. ”Certificate of tax credit (copy)” will be sent to you along with ”donation receipt”.

・Those who wish to claim both income tax deduction and individual inhabitant tax credit for the donation, please file a final income tax return at the relevant tax office.

・Those who wish to claim income tax deduction only on the ground that the prefecture/municipality you reside in has not yet designated donations to HU as tax-deductible, please file a final income tax return at the relevant tax office.

・If you are a salaried employee or a pension recipient who wishes to claim individual inhabitant tax credit without filing a final income tax return, you only need to submit a simple declaration to the municipality you reside in. In this case, please understand that you are not able to claim the income tax deduction.

・The decision about whether or not you can claim an individual inhabitant tax credit for the donation, is made depending on the regulations of the prefecture/municipality you reside in as of January 1st in the following year of the donation. For details, please contact the municipality you reside in.

・For details about final income tax return, please contact the relevant tax office. For declaration submitted to the municipality, contact the municipal officer in charge of inhabitant tax.
