[Research] An article featuring Gravity controlled stem cell research using “Gravite®” led by Professor Louis Yuge, Institute of Biomedical & Health Sciences, has been published in Nature (16 February 2017)

Research led by Professor Louis Yuge of the Institute of Biomedical & Health Sciences was featured in the InsideView in Nature in its 16th February 2017 edition.

The effect of different gravity environments on cells is of critical interest, not only to space scientists, but now to regenerative medicine professionals. The research group led by Professor Louis Yuge (Division of Bio-Environmental Adaptation Sciences, Graduate School of Biomedical & Health Sciences) has developed Gravite®, a device that enables researchers to conduct unprecedented experiments under microgravity and hypergravity conditions. Dr. Yuge and his team have ongoing interactions with NASA, and Gravite® is planned to be used as a device to be compared with space for comparative research on regenerative medicine using the International Space Station around 2018. In this advertisement feature of Nature, Dr. Yuge also explained his vision for future therapeutic and regenerative strategies using a walking support robot after stem-cell based therapy.
