Hiroshima University has started a new student exchange program, so-called PEACE student exchange program, supported by Japanese government. Our department has accepted two graduate students, Mr. Nguyen Kiet and Mr. Nguyen Hoang Phuc from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT), Vietnam, as exchange students of PEACE program from July 1, 2017 to September 30, 2017.

During three months, these students have taken a presentation class of the “Study on International Issues and Challenges” given by Prof. Taiji Hotta and three specialized lectures given by Prof. Takashi Tsuchida, Assoc. Prof. Kenichiro Nakarai and Prof. Koji Ichii. In addition, they have also done experiments and surveys with Japanese and foreign students in our department. In addition to enriching their knowledge, they could improve a lot of skills, such as presentation, communication, how to express their ideas or present their current research in front of general audience.

They also joined some outstanding activities such as some excursions to Otafuku and Mazda companies which are the symbols of Hiroshima Prefecture, on July 10 and 24, respectively. They were really impressed by the ingredients of Okonomiyaki Sauce and the rotary engine - a unique technology of Mazda. Moreover, they joined a series of events, such as painting giant ceramic doves with bomb survivors at Yasudagama on July 28 and Atomic Bomb ceremony at Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park on August 6.

Furthermore, they had many experiences and best memories on student life in Japan, such as watching baseball and football games at Hiroshima Municipal Stadium and Hiroshima Big Arch, respectively, joining some parties and seminar trip with Japanese and international students.

With respect to their participations, our department hope that this exchange program could advance their career and kindly waiting for the other students next years.
