About the Lecture
This seminar examines community resilience within peace and conflict studies, with a particular focus on the idiosyncratic political order in the Philippines. Ragandang highlights the central role of memory—alongside lived experience and intergenerational dialogue—in shaping resilience strategies across time and space. Through theoretical analysis and case studies, the seminar challenges conventional, often romanticized portrayals of resilience by tracing its intersections with agency, resistance, and political survival. It further considers how resource scarcity, trauma, and shifting socio-political landscapes shape adaptive practices, offering a more nuanced perspective on resilience in conflict-affected settings.
