Tadashi Dohi

While the spread of DX (Digital Transformation) is expected to make our lives more convenient and affluent, many challenges to create a new future by sparking innovation, through research and development of new digital technologies and the effective utilization of information and data, are being tried in every field. The School of Informatics and Data Science is the 12th Undergraduate School at Hiroshima University. It was opened in 2018, and, since then, has been practicing high level education and research by taking a good balance between data science and informatics. From 2021, we have refined our course curriculum and provided more advanced and specialized undergraduate programs from the viewpoints of computer science, data science, and intelligence science.

While it is attractive to learn advanced theories and skills in computing, big data, artificial intelligence, etc., it may be also an important contribution to apply these advanced technologies to various fields flexibly. I hope that you will become pioneers / creators of the future beyond innovation.

Dean, the School of Informatics and Data Science
