Professor Norihisa KATO and Assistant Professor Thanutchaporn KUMRUNGSEE from Graduate School of Biosphere Science visited Kasetsart University, Thailand

On July 21-22, 2016, Professor Norihisa KATO and Assistant Professor Thanutchaporn KUMRUNGSEE from the Molecular Nutrition Laboratory, Graduate School of Biosphere Science, Hiroshima University visited the Faculty of Agro-Industry, Kasetsart University, Thailand. They were invited to give talks on "Novel Physiological Functions of Food-derived Compounds" (Assistant Professor KUMRUNGSEE) at the Department of Food Science and Technology and “Aspergillus-derived Protease as Novel Bifidogenic Factor” (Professor KATO) at the Department of Biotechnology. The discussions took place in a relaxed atmosphere with questions from professors and students.

After the lectures, they carried out discussions with Assistant Professor Masubon THONGNGAM, (Assistant Dean for Student Affairs), Dr. Wasaporn CHANPUT, and Dr. Sudathip SAE-TAN from the Department of Food Science and Technology about collaborative researches in the near future. Further, they had research discussions with Dr. Siwaporn OCHAROEN from the Department of Product Development about a joint research programs. Finally, plans for students from the Faculty of Agro-Industry to join exchange student programs in Hiroshima University were discussed. There were lively discussions and plenty of fellowship opportunities during their visit to Kasetsart University.

We are hopeful this time that the visit of our staffs to the Faculty of Agro-Industry, Kasetsart University this time would strengthen the existing collaboration between the two faculties and universities in the future.
