Student Staff of the Center for Academic Practice and Resources held the “Freshmen Get-together (6th) ”!

The Center for Academic Practice and Resources held the 6th Meeting for New Students on the 1st floor of Student Plaza on April 27, 2023. This event is held three times a year with the aim of providing an opportunity for students to casually discuss their academic and lifestyle concerns and create connections across departments, academic years, and nationalities. We had 15 participants at this meeting. Some of them are graduate students from Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Graduate School of Advanced Science and Engineering, and Graduate School of Integrated Sciences for Life, and others are undergraduate students from School of Integrated Arts and Sciences, School of Engineering, School of Applied Biological Science, and School of Informatics and Data Science. Additionally, several student staff members from the Center joined in and were divided into four groups. They enjoyed talking about various topics including self-introductions, research topics and specializations, club activities, and hobbies. About one-hour for the meeting flew by, and it seemed that all participants deepened their friendships. Some of them exchanged contact information to continue their connections after the meeting. Based on the post-event survey, many participants took part in the meeting since they were interested in expanding their network. They wanted to establish relationships beyond their research labs and make friends. Therefore, the meeting was considered a valuable opportunity for them.
We will hold the next meeting in June. We will set up English conversation groups, so those who are not familiar with Japanese can also participate in the meeting. We are looking forward to meeting all of you the next time.
