The 8th TA Seminar was held successfully by C.A.P.R student staff at Student Plaza

On May 30, 2023, the Center for Academic Practice and Resources (CAPR) at Hiroshima University held the 8th TA Seminar successfully. The seminar was aimed at students who serve as a Qualified Teaching Assistant (QTA) or Teaching Fellow (TF) at Hiroshima University, with the purpose of acquiring basic skills and knowledge for teaching. There was also an opportunity to share experiences and thoughts from their real educational scenes as TAs.

In the beginning, Associate Professor Yusuke Sakurai, explained differences between QTA and TF of Hiroshima University TA system. Then, two student staff members, Kang Kaixiang (Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences) and Yoshitaro Kawamoto (Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences) shared their own QTA and TF experiences and what they had learned from those experiences. Afterwards, we all shared our own questions and concerns person by person and had discussions in two groups with all the participants.

After the event, we received positive feedback such as "I got a good understanding of the differences between QTA and TF" and ”I’m looking forward to the next seminar to make more new TA friends”. We will continue making this comfortable space for all the TAs in Hiroshima university to share experiences and thoughts about TA experiences and also to solve problems or troubles in working as a TA. Finally, TA seminars will continue contributing to the quality of education at Hiroshima University. See you next time at the coming 9th TA Seminar.
