Student Staff of the Center for Academic Practice and Resources held the “Freshmen Get-together (7th) ”!

The Center for Academic Practice and Resources held the 7th Meeting for New Students at Seminar Room D, 3rd floor, East Library on June 20, 2023.

This event is held three times a year with the aim of providing an opportunity for students to casually discuss their academic and lifestyle concerns and create connections across students regardless of their departments, academic years, and nationalities. Student participants are from various departments. For example, some of them were from Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences, and Graduate School of Advanced Science and Engineering and the others were undergraduate students from School of Integrated Arts. In this gathering, a total of 11 participants, including several student staff members from the Center joined in and they enjoyed talking about various topics including self-introductions, research topics and specializations, club activities, and hobbies. About one-hour for the meeting flew by, and it seemed that all participants deepened their friendships. Some of them exchanged contact information to continue their connections after the meeting.

Based on their pre-event survey responses, many participants expressed their desire to expand their social circle and make new friends as their purpose for attending the networking event. In our post-event survey, the respondents indicated satisfaction with the opportunity to meet individuals from various faculties, research fields, and backgrounds. It functioned as a valuable platform for fostering connections.

We will hold the next meeting in October. We will set up English conversation groups, so those who are not familiar with Japanese can also participate in the meeting. We are looking forward to meeting all of you the next time.
