The Center for Academic Practice and Resource held the 2nd TA Seminar ”Education and Artificial Intelligence”.

The Center for Academic Practice and Resource held the 2nd TA Seminar of the 2024 academic year on July 22, 2024, on the 1st floor of the Student Plaza. The theme of this TA Seminar was “Education and Artificial Intelligence”, and it was aimed at sharing opinions with participants about the impact of artificial intelligence on education. On the day, a total of 15 participants attended, including 7 undergraduate students (Faculties of Education and Science) and 8 graduate students (Graduate Schools of Humanities and Social Sciences, Advanced Science and Engineering, and Integrated Sciences for Life).

The seminar started with a lecture on “Education and Artificial Intelligence,” followed by group discussions on two topics: “What examples of AI applications in education can you think of?” and “What are the advantages and disadvantages of those applications?”. During the group discussions, participants actively shared their thoughts, referring to the examples of AI applications in education and their pros and cons covered in the lecture. Finally, the seminar concluded with a Q&A session addressing the participants questions.

The post-seminar survey indicated that many found the seminar informative and engaging, with responses such as “I was very interested in the relationship between AI and education, so this was very helpful” and “We had very good discussions and spent a fulfilling time.” Thus, we believe that the objective of this TA seminar was achieved. Furthermore, participants expressed interest in topics for the future seminars such as “a deeper dive into the current theme,” AI and ethics,” and “AI in Education (AIED),” indicating a high level of interest in AI and education.

The next TA Seminar is scheduled to be held in October or November. Although the content will differ, we believe it will be a meaningful time for all participants. The student staff of the Center for Academic Practice and Resources look forward to meeting you all.
