On April 24, 2025, the Center for Academic Practice and Resources hosted the first HU Students’ meeting “Freshman! Get together” event on the 1st floor of the Student Plaza. HU Students’ Meeting is held three times a year, which is an event designed to offer students a relaxed environment to discuss various academic and personal topics, fostering connections across different majors, academic years, and nationalities.
This first session was specially designed for new students who recently enrolled in Hiroshima University. Sixteen participants from the School of Integrated Arts and Sciences, Letters, Education, Engineering andApplied Biological Science, Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Advanced Science and Engineering and Integrated Sciences for Life joined the event,. Participants formed three groups with support from student staff at this center, engaging in warm, friendly interactions. The event began with self-introduction memory game as an ice breaker, followed by free conversation on a wide range of topics, such as recommendations for restaurants near the university and local culture.
Feedback from participants was highly positive, with students saying they “could talk with people from various fields”. We also received comments such as, “I wish the time would be longer”, “I wish there were more games or sports activities”. We will make the event more meaningful by considering the feedback. The next event is scheduled for June to July. We will notify you in Momiji when the date is set. We are looking forward to your participation again.
